Further thought of D.

Thanks for your sharing, I get much inspiration not limited to art, but more philosophical thinking and other areas. Being with you really have given me things, not just the professional skills. Space, displacement happens in space every day, we also have measurements to describe the space. But we don’t know enough about time, even if we deal with time every day, even if we too have a criterion to describe time.It is said the black hole is a powerful source of gravity, so the time near the horizon of the black hole is slow. It is said the black … Continue reading Further thought of D.

Being and Nothingness

Yesterdays lecture of Being and Nothingness was also relevant to our project. As we mentioned briefly afterwards, we could perhaps entitle our festival  ’21:12 The Being and Nothingness Festival’ instead of ‘The Being festival’ we had decided on earlier. This works well and corresponds with our ideas of consciousness, existence, time, reflection and aspects of freedom within time and space  – the nothingness, which was discussed in the lecture. I have been thinking a little about the poster design too for the event. The circle and Line or 0 and 1 binary code style medal, brought up in yesterdays lecture … Continue reading Being and Nothingness

About layout

Good morning everyone. Because of to our content with related festivals.I use the colorful color. More than five rows are used by each of us.One of the figs is my demonstration. The first two pages of this row are the table of contents and presentation. The last two pages are pages that we need to add more pages at a time. If you need more emotional big picture, I can email to you. On the part of our personal cover, I have another design: In fact, I like the atmosphere of these illustrations. Look forward to your suggestions. If you … Continue reading About layout

Mind the time

Good morning ! It was great to catch up on the past few days and read up on some of the recent blog posts. Some wonderful ideas and concepts being discussed along with some inspiring images. The concept of time remains prevalent amongst other themes for us. I thought you might enjoy this little silhouette animation by Lauren Young Smith and Lucas Loredo. Something to ease us into the weekend of research and planning. Mind the time       Continue reading Mind the time

Watch this Space…

Encompassing the themes of light, frequency and the cosmos as discussed prior to the christmas break I had this vision of creating an experience in a space where one could feel all at once invisible, whilst floating through the space and experiencing light and frequency. An overall oneness, the inner consciousness as an outwards physical, sensory experience. There are a number of elements to consider for this idea. One being zero gravity, the floating element as such. Following on from discussing zero gravity earlier on today I have just come across an article on Wallpaper magazines website. Apparently there is a zero … Continue reading Watch this Space…

Overview of today’s meeting.

Great progress today team! I think we’ve really engaged with the collaborative process and the outcome feels natural and very much born of this process. Here is a quick overview of today’s discussions. Feel free to add anything I may have left out! Our initial objective this morning was to define one idea from the many that we have put forward on this blog, in order to develop it into a proposal for an immersive, experiential installation. This proposal was going to take the form of an imaginary pitch for funding, to be submitted to imaginary arts funding bodies. Subsequent … Continue reading Overview of today’s meeting.

The Crystal-Image of Time…

http://offscreen.com/view/bergson2 The Crystal-Image …Just as Bergson never gives us a finite definition of duration, Deleuze does not offer a singular definition of the time-image, or give a clear indication of what he means by a “direct image of time.” We can, however, offer the following description based on Deleuze’s many suggestive morsels, partial insights, and descriptive metaphors. The crystal-image, which forms the cornerstone of Deleuze’s time-image, is a shot that fuses the pastness of the recorded event with the presentness of its viewing. The crystal-image is the indivisible unity of the virtual image and the actual image. The virtual image … Continue reading The Crystal-Image of Time…

Calling on Bergson and Deleuze…

Evening all, This particular post is in response to Eddies ‘polaroid moment‘ and the suggestion that perhaps time/space are inherently at play within the photographic or cinematic image – and of course he is quite right. The most rigorous exploration of this relationship between the image and time was developed by Gilles Deleuze in Cinema I  (the movement-image) and Cinema II (the time-image) which rely heavily on the work of Henri Bergson and his understanding of time and in particular – the concept of ‘duration’. There are some brilliant resources for all of this and of course there are the … Continue reading Calling on Bergson and Deleuze…
